Curtis Blaydes vs Francis Ngannou is a rematch of a fight that was left unsettled in the first meeting. The first fight happened a couple years ago, and both of these fighters lacked high caliber experience. Now, both have notable wins under their names, and this is a great test to see who has improved more since they last met in the octagon.
For me, I really like Curtis Blaydes to win this fight. He created the blueprint on how to beat Francis Ngannou. I referred to their fight heavily back when Stipe Miocic was going to fight Ngannou earlier this year. I bet on the Miocic (+180 Underdog) in that fight because Ngannou showed that he will slow down if you mix in takedowns with your strikes. Curtis Blaydes has one hell of a chin, and recovers very well when he does get hit with huge shots. Blaydes has shown massive improvements in his striking, and finding the right timing for his takedowns. He also is very aggressive with his takedowns once he gets in a groove. The first round or two should be very intense, but I think Blaydes is going to be very patient with his offense until he finds the opening to get this to the ground. Once Blaydes gets this fight to the mat, he will suck the energy out of Ngannou. I expect this fight to last for several rounds, and we may possibly see this fight go to a decision. As long as Blaydes can stay out of the way of an Ngannou haymaker, he should be able to grind his way to a victory.
Prediction: Curtis Blaydes by Decision.
